Post for book 6 Quiz

When I think about a character getting second chances in the latter stages of the Harry Potter books, the first character to come to mind is Draco Malfoy. While looking at the tail end of the Order of the Phoenix and the whole book the Half-Blood Prince, Lord Voldemort is giving Draco a second chance to redeem his family name, even if it is in a sadistic way hoping for a cruel death to Draco. I still count that as a second chance for Draco Malfoy to right the wrongs that his father had committed. Through out the Half-Blood Prince we see that Draco is severely struggling to right his father's wrong and find a way to kill Dumbledore. Eventually we see that Draco simply can't "pull the trigger" because he isn't that type of person. We see Draco flit from side to side pretending that he is a bad ass of some sort, when really it is a false bravado he struggles to maintain. Draco will get more chances to redeem is father, and he will continue to fail to "pull the trigger."

A second character that gets a second chance in the Half-Blood Prince is Albus Dumbledore. Dumbledore's second chance comes with another opportunity to form a purposeful and loving bond with Harry Potter. In the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore does a lot to tear down and weaken their bond, but in the second book he gets an opportunity to teach Harry himself, and help prepare him for what is coming.

There are many different second chances in the Harry Potter books, especially in the books with Lord Voldemort back in power, but Draco's and Albus' are the two most meaningful chances. The each are trying at a second chance to help people the love tremendously.
